
Raise the roof
We signed up to work with a design/build firm and I knew I would be working with a designer. Although I was sure I could handle this myself, the idea of collaboration was exciting. I'd been away from a firm and really working independently for years. Just before we moved out we met with Redeux designer. I showed her what I wanted and she told me where they source. Peeling the layers of the onion
We moved out the end of November. We sold off some items, but mostly packed 5 years worth of stuff into boxes and moved 2 miles away to a 2 bedroom apartment. I haven't lived in one location this long since high school so it was good to purge. That said, we have a LOT of stuff. Casting the players
Being in the industry, I knew how important it was to get the right team in place. I handle smaller projects than this and while I work with an amazing group of talented individuals, I felt that a project of this size needed to be handled by people that specialize in Pop-Top Construction and understood my design goals. These were: 1. Preserve the craftsman style in our architecture 2. Maintain our current footprint 3. Create a home with space for us as individuals with smar
